Simplicity Within Complexity

I was reading West's children's Bible and he chose the short story about Jesus teaching the disciples how to pray. It leads in with the Lord's Prayer with a picture of Jesus kneeling.

Me:
"'Our Father who is in Heaven . . . '"
West jumps in: Is he praying to himself?
Me: uuuh. . . .well . . . yes he is.
West: why? (I'm thinking "A TRINITY question??? Oh my)
Me: Well, a long time ago Jesus lived on earth, but his Father still lived in heaven. Now Jesus is in heaven with his Father. . . . (West broke in before I could finish)
West: Is this Father God?
Me: Yes.
West: Then Jesus is praying to Himself.
Me: Yes I guess He is.

Simplicity within Complexity

Another story:

So I bought a small cement gargoyle the other day and put it on our mantle (Halloween not normal decor). I like that kind of Gothic stuff. The English teacher in me I guess.

West comes in and spots it and slowly creeps backward. "What's that,Mommy" he said.

I said " it's just a statue. It's not scary, just more silly or spooky"

West replies "oh" while still backing up.

Later on, Matt comes in the room to tell me I have to get rid of my gargoyle. "Why" I ask.

"Because West just named it." he said. "You'll never guess the name he's chosen"

"What?" I ask.

"Baal."

Oh, well maybe if my son thinks I've placed on my mantle an Old Testament pagan god that caused the Israelites a lot of trouble from God, then yeah, I'll take it down.

I placed it in a kitchen cabinet. Every morning when I get my teapot, my gargoyle greets me :)

This is the same conversation I have with myself!!! :)

Love the picture of your boys both smiling and looking at the camera. Not such a small miracle, I know!!!

Hope you are doing well.

Can West teach in big church? I think he would be helpful to us who need it simple. I LOVE this story! Hope you are keeping a journal of these to look back on.

Wow... you have a beautiful family. We are in the process of adopting another little girl from Russia.

Did your most recent adoption go smoothly? Any advice?

Thanks,
Julie

Now then, STAND STILL, and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your very eyes! 1 Samuel 12:16
