Who's Parenting Who?

Saturday, Matt was out-of-town all day, and I don't do overtime with the kids well (working on Weekend without Matt's help.) So I made it movie night for the kids.

I let West choose the movie. The Incredibles is what he chose. So I popped it in, and walked away to prepare snacks. As I was half listening to the movie, I kept thinking to myself that maybe this movie was too much for them, but kept justifying it to myself thinking "other 3 year-olds watch this; how bad could it be?" Mostly laziness was getting the best of me.

So about 5 minutes into the movie, West calls me in and says:

"Mommy, I think this would be a better movie for me when I'm older. I think Winnie the Pooh would be better for me right now."

hmmmm . . . . I agree West. What a kid!

Summer Camp

West, Creed and I courageously went to our church's summer camp for the students. We were there for a week -- 4 days by ourselves and then Matt came for the last 3. It was exhausting, but we were so blessed by help from the students, the Attic adults and the college staff. We had a great time.

The camp was on it's own little peninsula off of a Gulf bay. Just outside my door was the sunrise. One morning I woke up to meet some of my sophomore girls for a sunrise. The kids were asleep so I thought I would be okay stepping across a small yard to the edge of the water. The poor things did wake up and found their way outside. I looked behind me to see West and Creed looking around, Creed saying "mommy? mommy?" Fortunately I wasn't far away.
Shout out to the Ladies! I'm missing a lot of them in the pic, but here are a few that made it out of bed by 6 am!
The theme of camp this year was pirates (aren't we all pirates: selfish, treasure-seeking, rogues?) Here is Creed playing with some pirate toys.

This was Creed's first time at the beach. He went straight into the water -- fortunately the waves were small in the bay or he would have been out to sea before I could put down our beach gear. He kept calling the water "pool"

Now then, STAND STILL, and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your very eyes! 1 Samuel 12:16
