Maybe It Is Us --Delays . . .

We received some frustrating news from our agency today stating that all movement in our process (and everyone elses) will be on a hold, at best for a couple weeks and at worst, maybe 6 weeks.

It has nothing to do Ethiopian adoptions in general and there is nothing that causes them to believe things won't be moving as usual in a few weeks (I don't know details on the situation either)

All this to say, the average wait increase to 9 1/2 months (from 8 months when we started), is now longer.

It is hard to describe how I feel about these increase wait times. In some way, it feels very normal-- I have a "of course it is longer" response. In some ways, I say to myself and to God "Really??"

We are going to talk with our agency soon to make sure we have all of our information and expectations set up correctly and until then we are thinking through a few things about waiting for one child or for two.

We are also considering a puppy. Puppies will make the wait time go faster right?

Hi! I saw your comment on our blog! Nice to "meet" you :)
Every time something changes I am reminded that adopting really is a rollercoaster!
I'm praying for all of us involved in this process and that we'll gain some extra patience as we might need to wait longer.

And a puppy sounds like a great idea!! :)

I feel the same way. Ever since we signed with our agency, they have had very few birthmothers. I think it is me, too! I feel your pain.

Puppies are fun. We got two while we were feeling sorry for ourselves, way back before Russia. They are finally getting attention again :)

But I refuse to get another.

xoxo,
Amy

Julie-
We got a puppy for Christmas - our wait times have always been over a year from dossier being logged in. When I first found out, I was more devastated than I can say. Anyway, we're hopefully about halfway through - and yes, for the "life must go on feeling" we got a puppy for Christmas.

Puppies are definitely the way to go...unless you get one as dumb as the one we have. He just bit Earl on the thumb a few minutes ago for taking a paper towel out of his mouth...and not just a tiny bite...the kind where you contemplate stitches! He's old enough to know better now...he just turned two on Christmas day. (No, he's not a pitbull...he is a little Morkie) He's so naughty, and yet...I miss him when I am away from him for even the shortest time. So...my vote it YES, get a puppy, it will distract you...and make you insane...and make you fall in love all at the same time :o)
