A Puppy Perhaps?

It's not perhaps anymore. We put a deposit on a 4 week old English Springer Spaniel puppy.

I found, though, that adoption terminology and living has permeated my brain through and through. As if this is a surprise to anyone who reads my blog.

But it is really bad, when you ask " Are we able to meet the birthdog?"

The other crazy thought I had (and Matt thought it too, so 2 crazies make one fun marriage!) was that if we get this puppy right now before I go to Ethiopia for a week, then won't the really mess up attachment? Shouldn't I be with this puppy for several weeks so that we can bond?

Oh . . and I guess i haven't mentioned in this blog either that I'm going to Ethiopia soon. not for adoption but for an orphan care partnership we have with our church and churches in Zeway, Ethiopia and with Food for the Hungry. More to come on that later!

But a puppy! We have a puppy picked out! I'm pleased as punch about my puppy :)

I always love to hear about new critters joining a family - hope things go well with the transition!

Congratulations on becoming a dog momma :) This is a good time for you to get a puppy, it will fit in nicely into your family.

I was a dog momma before I was a real momma. Then we were feeling sorry for ourselves because we weren't parents yet - so we got another dog. They were our pretend babies for a long time. And then when we became "real" parents, the dogs took a back seat. I'm finally petting them again :)

Anyway. The kids will love it. You will too. Dogs are fun! Woof!!

So, did you meet the birthdog?

Congrats! We are also enjoying our puppy! Not as much as I would enjoy a kid, but whatever.

it's never wrong to want to meet the puppies parents!! I have 2 Samoyed's (that I may eventually breed), but I demanded to meet both dame's and sire's!
